Can you believe it? i actually got selected, empanelled and participating within a trial as we speak.
When i first got the notice, i was actually quite looking forward to it, it means i get to take a break from work (which i need) without having to spend my annual leaves. I guess i consider myself lucky, because the jury assembly (first stage for selecting jurors) had about 100 people, then 50 ppl go dismissed because of their application to be excused, then another 25 people got dismissed because 2 cases got cancelled, so that leaves 1 case left, and they had to select 12 people out of around 25. So then we all headed off into the court room where we were introduced to the barristers, judge and accused. The judge then went on to randomly select 12 people for the jury seats, and yeap, i was one of them!. BUT that wasn’t over yet, because the barristers had an option to challenge the jurys, so if they think we don’t suit the case, they have the power to reselect, but i guess they thought i looked like a righteous young boy full of justice and so gave me this great opportunity! yay….
However…..jury duty…i must say, is probably one of the boringest duties i have done ~~” even office duty ( back in year 8 ) was more exciting.
Anyway, i only got a short trial, 4 days or so, i wont spill anything….just yet, as i made a pledge to the judge not to tell anyone. hehe
ps. lucky im not a sudoku fan ^^”
